We are very excited that Helen Stoumbos will be attending our 2017 Sport Conference as our Keynote Speaker on Saturday morning.
Helen was a member of Canada's National Soccer team for 8 years and was a key member of Canada's first ever world cup team in 1995 where she went on to score Canada's first world cup goal. Her career led her to a position in the prestigious Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame in 2008.
Helen is also a Wilfrid Laurier University Hall of Fame athlete. While attending Laurier, Helen was honoured as a 4 time all Canadian All star and was presented with the Presidents Award for outstanding female athlete of the year a record 3 times. While there, her team won 3 provincial titles and 1 National title.
Following her soccer career Helen continued on as commentator Women’s soccer on Rogers Sportsnet and CBC and was involved in working on 4 World Cup broadcasts. As a partner in a TV production company from 1997 to 2005, Helen worked on 4 different TV series as a researcher, producer and host. She was involved in over 200 episodes that aired on various networks across Canada, The United States and Malaysia. In 2006 she began her association with Gleam Media in 2006 as a writer/producer/editor. She has been involved in various aspects of production including project management, researching, producing, writing, hosting and editing.
She is also a published author…co-authoring a book called “Women’s Soccer The Passionate Game”
Outside of her business experience, Helen has worked with various organizations as a mentor, leader and public speaker. As an ambassador for Habitat for Humanity, as a coach to young girls, as a role model to young athletes/professionals, as a member of the champions network for the Special Olympics and as one of the founders and the CEO for the Canadian Women's Soccer Alumni and Players Association, Helen's greatest passion is in helping others and contributing where she can.
